Nestled in the heart of Studio City, Hugo's Studio City is a standout destination for anyone craving thoughtful Californian and American cuisine with a strong emphasis on gluten-free, vegan, and vegetarian options. This charming eatery at 12851 Riverside Dr invites diners into a warm, nostalgic setting that feels like stepping back in time—perfectly complementing the fresh, imaginative dishes served throughout the day.
The menu at Hugo’s is a harmonious blend of hearty comfort foods and health-conscious choices that cater to a diverse palate. Breakfast offerings like the Bruno Breakfast Scramble, featuring eggs scrambled with vibrant spinach, earthy mushrooms, creamy avocado, and your choice of bacon, sit atop a bed of sweet yams and potatoes—naturally gluten free and easily converted to vegan or vegetarian. Another crowd favorite is the Chipotle Scramble, where tender grilled chicken mingles with sautéed peppers and onions, crowned with melty mozzarella and cheddar, drizzled in a subtly spicy honey-chipotle sauce.
Beyond breakfast, the menu dazzles with dishes like the velvety, indulgent Mac and Cheese, crispy and golden Asian Spring Rolls, and a refreshingly vibrant Breakfast Salad that brims with fresh greens and bright flavors. For those seeking something more adventurous, the savory Brisket Stew offers deep, comforting richness, with tender meat and perfectly seasoned vegetables, although some guests have noted the carrots lean softer and saltier than preferred—yet this minor detail doesn't overshadow the overall satisfaction of the dish.
One simply must not miss the sweet finale: Hugo’s Sticky Buns and their light, fluffy Chocolate Chip Pancakes offer the perfect balance of sweetness and texture, rounding out any meal beautifully. Their Churros are another irresistible treat, crisp on the outside and warm within, ideal for sharing or indulging solo.
The dining experience at Hugo’s is elevated not just by the food but also by its inviting atmosphere. The patio is heated and pet friendly—ideal for catch-ups with friends on chillier days while your furry companions enjoy equally warm welcomes. Inside, the décor’s retro charm invites comfortable, relaxed dining where attentive staff, like Eric, make a tangible difference with their intuitive, heartfelt service—ensuring drinks never run low and needs are anticipated before voiced.

Great place for every time of the day. Their food is very delicious. Most of them are already healthy options. They have breakfast, brunch, lunch, dinner. Patio outside is heated and pet friendly. It’s pretty sunny outside but great for a cold day. They welcomed dogs really well. The table near me had their furry friend fed too. Parking was a bit limited but I went around 11am and found it’s pretty easy to find. When I leave, cara had to wait around 5-10 minutes for the space. Right off 101 freeway then turn right and sharp left.
Love this place and its big menu of gluten free choices. The old fashioned decor makes you feel like you’re stepping back in time. Nearly every item is gluten free from fried pickles to French toast. Great variety of healthy choices to the decadent. Even gluten free desserts. No wonder this place is a legend! Service is always spectacular. Friendly and welcoming from the moment you walk in the door. Recently moved to the area from Boston, where gluten free restaurants were hard to find. This place quickly became a favorite!
I went to Hugo’s and had one of the BEST dining experiences ever. The food was great, but the service? Next level. Huge shout-out to Eric — he wasn’t even our server, yet my Coke Zero never hit empty once. He kept it full the entire time, lemon perfectly placed, like he had a sixth sense for when I needed a refill. That kind of attention is rare, and honestly, it made my whole meal. Everyone we interacted with was friendly and on top of things, but Eric went above and beyond in a way I’ll seriously never forget. Hugo’s, you’ve got a gem on your team. I’ll be back — and I’ll be looking for Eric!
The atmosphere felt welcoming and the staff took great care of us throughout the meal. The food was flavorful and well prepared, especially the brisket stew. While the carrots were a bit softer and saltier than my preference, it did not take away from the overall enjoyment. Everything else was spot on and I left feeling satisfied and happy.
Enjoyed a good meal at Hugo's. Service was very nice, great food. I found the carrots in the brisket stew a little too soft and overly salty but otherwise everything was great. It wasn't too busy and we were seated right away on Easter Sunday late lunch.
Overall, a decent spot for breakfast - we went as a family. The portions were generous, but my wife wasn’t too happy with the avocado toast. Also, the server mixed up our order, so I’m giving it 4 stars.
I remember my first visit years ago to be quite memorable. Can't remember what I ordered, which is a bummer, but was eager to come back. This time ordered an omelet. Beautiful presentation, but lacked flavor. My friend raved about her dish so may need to try that next time.
